If cream of tartar is beaten well into dripping before making cakes, it will disguise the fatty taste altogether. Beat the cream of tartar .and fat together before adding the sugar. The rind of crackling of pork often cannot be eaten on account of its becoming hard in the roasting. To prevent' this, rub over with a little salad oil before putting in the oven. This will make it soft and digestible.
